Trans Fluid Leak from around pass axle

Have a 97 gsr and it slowing leaks tranny fluid outa where the axle goes into the passenger side of the transmission.
I have taken axles out several times on the car but noticed that theres a smal seal on the passengers inboard axle.
I am wondering if this seal should be in the hole the axle is going into on transmission? Mayb that is why its leakin.
It appears that seal is on the axle but im wondering if the seal should be around the slot the axle fits into trans.

Any ideas ?

that seal is suppose to be in the tranny and not the axle. its called a trans axle seal. maybe yours needs to be replaced.

Are you leaving a pretty decent sized puddle when it sits? Or is it just EVERYWHERE under the car?

Regardless its a press in seal into the trans that as long as it's done carefully, it's pretty quick and easy.
