HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Jackson: Rather then laughing, why don't you explain to him what would be involved in swapping his car over to right hand drive. Since you're obviously so informed.

People spend tonnes to convert Jdm to left hand drive for imported vehicles, but you want to do the opposite and make your car illegal?
it's not illegal... at least not in some states anyway. Not saying I would convert, hell, for the amount of money it would cost you should just sell your teg and get a real JDM, wouldn't be much more...

easiest way i could think of would be to find an entire front clip from a jdm type r that would be my guess, then it would come with everything from the dash to the headlights. but it will be quite a bit of work to get everything going, and i would imagine rather costly as well.

...now i've seen everything...

a guy in my car club is making his car a center drive. Do that if your gonna do something different!!!

Ok, here is what I know, which isnt much. You need dash and rack and maybe some suspension from the jdm. Ummm you need to cut a fatty hole in your firewall. Ummm, im almost posative you need the pedal set from a jdm. I think that is all or most of what you need to do. Sounds easy, I was gonna do it, then I thought about how friggin annoying it would be to shift w/ my left hand. Blaaaa!!!

dude if you ganna do that just buy a JDM car? i think it wo uld be close to same price and a hell of alot easier, but whatever oyu wanna do man goodluck

It is completely legal. Manufacturers making cars sold here left-hand drive is not a "law" but is more a tradition than anything.

However, driving on the right-hand side of the road is the law here. You can't just start driving into oncoming traffic obviously. Also, the car must meet all inspection requirements. And there is not requirement that the car be LHD in any state.

To be honest, it causes few problems except at toll booths and drive-thru windows.

I would not advise a conversion. It would probably be cheaper and safer to get a JDM Integra here, beef it up to US Standards and keep it right hand drive. Conversion requires lots of time and chopping into your car. The firewall must be replaced. If you must do it, get a front-clip from a JDM Integra and mate it to your Integra. It's half-assed, but I've seen it done on the internet.

Rural postal workers who drive their own vehicles drive Jeep Cherokees and Subaru Legacy Wagons that came from the factory RHD and to USDM specs.Or, they have the option of buying a USPS Spec GM or Ford postal truck. Most opt for the Jeeps or the Subarus because they're a heck of a lot more comfortable and they're a better daily driver when not doing their routes. It should be noted that neither Chrysler nor Subaru make these vehicles anymore for sale in the US market due to poor demand. The market for these is entirely used now.

If they drive anything that wasn't RHD from the factory, they use kits that install a steering wheel and pedals on the right side. They essentially are just strung across the lower dashboard to connect to the steering column and the pedals. It's really half-assed, but a lot of postal workers use these kits. Check out www.postalthings.com for an example of those kits in action.

i think the term "the parts are worth more than the whole" here..

you would be better off, and this is as said above on more than one occasion, buying a JDM and getting it to US spec (which by no means is "reasonably priced"), than getting the new dash, new console, new steering, etc etc etc etc.....

its a great idea to try to be unique... but c'mon, you gotta do it within reason

here's how you do it. do a search on this site and you will see the same exact thread a few times. after you read them you will come up with conclusions I have conveniently summarized at the bottom of this post
(bryan I am going to one-up you

*before you do anything else read this!*
We have UNI-Body frames, which is basically sheet metal bent and tack welded for structural reinforcement. as soon as you cut oNE piece of the frame the whole car becoms unstable. the more you cut the more unstable the whole setup becomes. the alternative is to get the front end already built that way from the factory and TRY to have it grafted to your car. again there will be cutting and welding, but this way you can minimize the flaws and possibly reinforce the points that you joined them.
lets think of the costs involved...

-Option 1: fabricate all the parts, then "modify" your frame and hope it doesn't crack break or bend under stress. lots of money and no guarantees

-Option 2: buy a front end from the dash forward, and find someone to cut off your front and put on the new one. expensive for the front clip, but much more structurally sound. lot's of labor costs involved, but more piece of mind.

-Option #3 buy a frame from overseas, and the dash/trim. when it gets in start pulling off your carparts and putting them on. cost less then the front clip, since it isn't being shipped with an engine, very time consuming but you can do a majority of the work for free, most structurally sound so far (of 1-3)

-Option #4 buy a car and have it shipped from Japan, New Zealand, Austrailia, Great Britan, or ETC.... see you don't necessarily have to go to Japan to get a Right Hand Driver! costs.. probably the cheapest option after you factor in time, money for parts, insurance, and TITLING! yes you need to register this beast, and engine & vins that don't match are a BIIIIIIIIG no no at the DMV.

I have to comment, though, about driving a car with RHD. I have never driven a RHD car here, but I have driven them on trips to the Cayman Islands I took in the last few years. I can tell you that driving a RHD car is very EASY when you're driving on the left side of the road. on other trips, I have rented left-hand drive cars. It's VERY hard to drive a LHD car in a RHD country...

I think it's because that in a RHD car, there is a constant reminder that you need to stay left, whereas with a LHD car, it's not as obvious...you want to veer to the right side.

I'd imagine driving a RHD car here in the US would be much the same, sort of disorienting.

Remember than no matter what country you're in or whether they're RHD or LHD, the driver is closest to the center of the road, ideally...if you drive the wrong type of car in a particular country...the driver rides near the shoulder. It's not natural feeling at all.

if this is a show car...just buy a race car from Spoon like my friend and not register it...

bring it back and forth to show

...and leave it in a nice spot in ur living room to display!

then, charge an entrance fee so ppl can look at it and take pictures with it...earn a bit of cash back...

you'll have your old car, and new car, a new source of income AND get the gurls lining up to model for the car!
