I have an optima yellow top and it is worth the cash to me ($120 thanks to it being so small). Mine does fit in the stock location(i'll get the model to you when i can). The only problem i ran into was that the terminals where reversed so i bought a longer negitive terminal and wire, the positive will reach. If you have a stereo system in your car its a really good investment it is almost like putting in a cap, it cures the dimming of the lights when the bass hits. Plus if you drive your car during the winter it will start way better on those extremeley cold days.

I have had one in my other car for 3 years with no problems at all. Even when i put it up for the summer last year and didnt disconect it she started right up most batteries you would have to charge after sitting that long.

Why don't you just buy a capacitor so you can listen to your system for hours with the car off?
Lets not go down that road again. Thats not how a Cap works or why you get a Cap...

Back to the original topic: I've only experienced good things with them. I used to have a yellow top (I don't remember the model) in my 02 Civic and it worked really well. I'm 98% certain that the battery that I bought in '03 is still the same one that is in the car today. That battery has been through some tough times too. There was a string when I first got my license that at least twice a week I would leave my lights on and the battery would die while I was at work/school/hanging out with friends. I became very quick at jumping my car, but there battery still runs strong.

My dad (I sold the car to my parents because they needed a car for my brother to drive), even commented about the battery because he has had to replace the battery in his 04 Silverado at least four times in the past two years because they don't last.

Anyways, I don't know why they are so hit and miss with people, but I really like them. When I replace my battery down the road I plan on getting one.

I use the basic batteries in all our cars without major incident. They're like $60 with the same warranties you'd expect, and I don't feel as guilty when it needs to be replaced.

Frankly I don't understand why most people would really need the Optimas unless their cars sit in extreme cold, or sit for extended periods without running.

optima is a deep cycle battery if u drive short distances "if u track or auto X "its not for you.. i had a yellow top for about a year and it died!! you can always pop-start the teg and it should charge back up. i went to honda and bought a battery "made by interstate" no problems for over 2 years now....

it was made to be a marine battery " deep cycle" which means u can use it all day and it should have the same "cranking power" even if its almost dead. then you go home and charge it back up.

deep cycle the battery doesnt want to be charged by your alt untill it gets really low ... so if u turn the car of and listen to the radio or sometimes your alarm will use the remaining charge and your car will be dead when you come out....

This has been covered about 1000 times and some of us have beat the optima stuff to death. Here's a few guidlines before you spend all that money and then waste it.

Unless your total wattage from speaker amps is greater than 1000 for 1 amp and 1500 for 2 amps, don't get this battery.

Unless you are going to leave your car off for an hour or more while blasting the stereo more than 1/2 volume, dont buy this battery

Unless you are mounting this battery in the trunk, cab, or upside down, do not buy this battery

A big misconception people have is that Optima yellow top deep cycle batteries are for performance cars, they are not, and are 9 times out of 10 used in conjunction with a standard battery (standard battery under the hood for the car, optima in the truck for the stereo equipment). they are for high electrical output systems. which if you have a basic 2 amp 2 subs set up, a regular die hard or interstate battery will work absolutely fine

Example, I have pioneer component speakers that = 250 watt amp, and 2 JL 13w1's, with a 250 watt amp. I have no capacitor, and a regular sears bought die hard battery. You know how much my lights dim? None, never, zilch. Even when i had a 800 watt amp in the car, no dimming.

I personally would save my money. Unless your looking for the "ooo and ahhh" effect when you show up somewhere an pop your hood.

Those are the only conditions I would buy an optima battery, and I have not only sold them, but have installed countless stereo systems in many different vehicles in my past.

I don't know what kind of power you are running, but those are my thoughts, since a lot of buyers of optima's are basic stereo people thinking they are going to fix problems.

Another solution, get a more powerful altenator, since, when the car is running, the battery isnt being used.

I hate optimas. Dont get me wrong there great for the first year then shortly after that they die. I bought three and that happened to all of them. Eventualy I just bought another honda battery. Although I'm not sure if it is just the small civic/ integra batteries that sux because my friends have the larger ones and they never had a problem with them.

Most people buy the Yellow Tops because they like to use their systems while the car is off. No battery ive used stock, interstate, or Die hard can last off more than 30 minutes at 1/4 of the max volume and all i am using is 800 watts.

I always hear stories of them dying, but i also hear stories like "wtf ive had mine for years and it still runs strong"

"Why don't you just buy a capacitor so you can listen to your system for hours with the car off?" Um no a cap doesn't store power like that. You need to do your research before posting something like that.

maybe its just me but i dont ever see a point in time where i have my car turned off an i need the radio on. washing and detailing? my windows are up. The beach, i'm in the water away from the car with the windows up.

The reason peoples optima batteries are dying so soon is because of improper usage. someone through someone told them it would be great in their cars, and because its not great for the car, it dies. 160 for a battery that could potentially die in a year or 2, or 60-80 for a battery with a 5 year warranty. go figure. I've never had any battery fail on me, unless they were like 8 years old.

I'll stand by this til days end. Unless you have some wild off the wall system in your car, dont get this battery, and if you do, mount it in the trunk, and buy a regular battery to start and run your car.

ive had a regular autozone batterry and they do last about a year or so and most of the time they loose thier power to store voltage (just in my exp.) but hey thats what their warranty is for, i only pay 13 bux to exchange em (core fees)
anyways i tend to like Oddessy Batteries, has anyone ever heard of bad ratings on em ? im thinking about getting one for $110 but i heard that optima is made by them, is this true? (and yes my lights do dim when i get close to 0db, i have 2 stage three 12" fostgate subs with a 1.25 fared cap and if i go loud enough they still dim a bit..)
