what are CEL codes??

i probably don't since i have no clue what it is

Well here is how it all happened in a nutshell, maybe u know more about cars than me also.
When i first bought my car, it made dat noise, it was pretty loud, and sounded cool too. Then i stored it for winter, and 8 months later i drove it again, and then i noticed that the buzzing noise got quieter. Then i stored it again the next winter, and took it out 8 months later, which was just 5 days ago. and I noticed that the noise is completly gone. What the hell happened??? Wierd Huh?

its the abs, its perfectly normal, nothing is wrong with your car. it is just performing a self-check during that 1 second.

CEL codes are "Check Engine Light Codes"...the check engine light will flash during a diagnostics test to show what exactly is wrong with your car. these have nothing to do with the abs system. the abs system codes are pulled from the abs light in the gauge cluster. as for the noise coming from the abs unit, you probably just always realize the sound, or it may sound differently to you pending on if you have the windows up or down, etc. there is nothing wrong here, it is just performing a quick 1 second self-check. if your really that freaked out about the abs system, go underneath your glove box. you'll see a green rubber piece. your going to pull the blue connector out that has 2 openings at the end. with the car shut off, slide both ends of an open paperclip in each of these slots. turn the key to the on position and watch the ABS light in the cluster light up. it will perform a series of flashes if something is wrong with the system. refer to this 98-01 ABS diagonostics code article here.

Yeah, completely normal for our cars with ABS, initializes and checks your ABS system at the start before you go driving off

my "false information" happens to be correct information. The fuel pump does make a "buzzing noise" when the key is in the auxilary position. While his buzzing is probably his ABS, it is NOT limited to his ABS.

, and then start to drive away,

Isn't the fuel pump only when you start it up (like in accessory or ignition), but the ABS only when you have gone like 3 or 4 or so feet at some certain speed?

it may make this noise between 4 and 12 mph for a one second period during the first steps of your drive

thanx for the info everybody, u guys are awesome

but ur missing my point, what i'm trying to say here is that there in NO MORE NOISE coming from the ABS anymore. I'm wondering what could be wrong with it.

Read the 6th entry in this forum for my story of what happened in a nutshell.

I have that same thing happen to my car at start up, and when the buzzing stops the ABS light comes on. The brakes work fine but the only thing I notice is when I have my A/C on, my brakes seem to slip a little..meaning I have to press down almost to the floor to stop....is this normal?
