Upper control arm replacement

Okay, my new objective is to replace the passenger side control arm.
It appears that rather than fighting the bolts inside the wheel well, I can remove the two nuts under the hood that hold the arm.
More specificly, there are two bolts under the hood, by the shock/strut and under the fuse compartment. I'm thinking of removing those two bolts and "MAYBE" the control arm can be removed from under the wheel well.
I'm having trouble getting tools/hands/leverage on the bolts in the wheel well.

Anyone have any thoughts on taking off those bolts under the hood?

Thanks once again...I would be lost with out TI.

I had trouble doing this myself as well when I did my s2 front camber kit. Heres how I did it (even though there may be a better way):

- Unbolt the UCA from the frame (under the hood)
- Unbolt the UCA from that piece (with the bushings)
- loosely bolt back the UCA to the bushings
- bolt the peice back to the frame
- raise the car to normal ride height
- mark the position of the UCA relative to the bushings
- drop the car back down
- unbolt UCA from frame again
- tighten the bolts to the bushings, noting the position of the mark
- bolt the UCA to the fram
- you're done

Its really important that the bushings not be twisted while the car is sitting at normal ride height, thus the reason for all the trouble.

I love this site.....I would be writting big checks if it wasn't for your help.

I'm not sure how I missed the article...probably has a lot to do with having no idea what a chamber kit is.

#1 - I'm confused about how alignment plays into this? If in fact it does. As long as I'm not totally removing the Knuckle and not messing with the lower arm/steering arm, how would alignment be changed?

#2 - What kind of pressure is on the UCA? If I jack up the hub/knuckle/lower arm, will that take the pressure off the UCA? There doesn't appear to be any connection to the springs, other than at the lower arm.

#3 - the above procedure written by cobra has me a little confused, but you guys know a lot more than I do. Does anyone have any comments on the procedure.

Although, this seems straight forward, I have learned that until I do things myself, surprises can occur.

Thanks again for your time.

I just realized something....I looks like I have to take off the spring/strut do to the bracket is behing the strut.

Is this going to be a big deal???????
did you even read my comment? that is what i was telling you and no it is not hard to do. just remove the two bolts on the top of the strut and the bolt on the lca.

Sorry...I did read your comment, I just didn't get it the first time.

So, as long as I jack up the LCA then I shouldn't have any major spring explosion when I remove the strut bolts or split the ball joint?

Thanks.
