Can a car be salvaged from stolen rims? I'm going to check carfax but most of the time they don't say anything except SALVAGE TITLE. Anyone can help?

Even if the rims were worth that much, the car owner would have gotten face value of the STOCK rims in the event of a theft. The insurance company does not cover aftermarket parts unless they are on the policy. If they are on the policy, it would raise the value of the car (oN THE POLICY), and the car wouldnt have been totalled.

yes, but what if the value of the rims exceeded the value of the car, then it would be a total loss in the eyes of the insurance company. its acutally like a percentage of the value. like 80%?
simply replace the wheels. Missing wheels don't make a car unusable. Mine were stolen and I'm fine.....pissed but fine.

Yes, simply replace the wheels, but i was just stating how a salvage title comes about.

yes, that is the fate of alot of s2000s, they get a salvage title just b/c of a cut roof and missing seats. may not seem like much but that about 10k worth of parts and labor at honda. bad for the owner, good for the people who buy at auctions...i guess

Or stolen. But it also depends what state you live in. In Kansas, any vehicle theft will result in a salvaged title. I don't believe there is a stipulation on time, probably at least 24 hours. I had to file for a salvaged title and I had to read a lot about it. But it really depends on your state. And it's 75% of the vehicles value for total loss.

No to be salvaged it has to be damaged, wrecked or flooded vehicles.
No, mine was salvaged because it cost insurance toomuch to repair compared to what it was worth. Nothing was damaged, just stolen and whole car scratched. So needed a paint job as well as parts.

All of which falls under the salvage title because it costs more than its worth to fix. There are other forms of title to look for as well.
