[PROBLEM SOLVED, BAD AXLE] I believe my clutch went out.[VIDEO]

Okay, so last night I was leaving a driveway to get on the main street in front my house. After I put the car into first, as I was easing of the clutch and giving gas to the car to accelerate, I heard a noticeable "pop" sound coming from the front of the car. The car slightly over revved , due to me giving it gas. I put the car back into neutral and tried again. This time I kept hearing a "whirling", or "grinding" type of sound when trying to accelerate.
I then tried to see what happens as I put the car into higher gears. As I would shift the car into a higher gear, the sound would become louder, and the rate of the sound would be faster. I also noticed that even though the car can't go anywhere, the speedometer goes up, the higher the gear I am in.

Fortunately I called my boss, who got his friend to tow my car back into my driveway. I need to buy parts today, and start working on my car tomorrow.

I do think that my clutch did indeed go out.

Any information or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Trust me,check the axles first before going through the trouble of pulling the transmission. Just because you replaced the drivers side don't mean its not going to malfunction and brake,and what about the passenger side? The MPH wouldn't move if the clutch was out,so the gears are working,just no power to the wheels.

It is possible that the outer cv joint has something to do with it.

I forgot to mention this, but yesterday I had to do a couple of u-turns. When I was halfway into the turn I would feel the drivers side of the car vibrate. That is the only time I experienced this vibration. Coincidentally, last night I had to pull out of the driveway sideways, and perform almost a full u-turn. That's when this issue arises.

Sounds like the axle. To break it down, if the clutch was damaged the car would either not go into gear, or the car would go into gear but not turn the transmission. Since the speedometer is showing a reading, we know that the gears in the transmission are turning, so the clutch must be engaging in some way. If the gears in the transmission are turning and the wheels aren't then it sounds like the axle to me.

Thanks for the clarification, it really helped me understand better. The reason why I initially thought that this might be a clutch problem, was because last night I didn't pay attention to the speedometer showing a reading, until today. Then, a few people told me it may be an axle, and after thinking about it, I figured it out. I am going to buy a new axle tonight, and remove and replace tomorrow..
