I have wondered this ever since I got into sports compacts... it seems over 1/2 the time when you see a civic/eclipse/integra/prelude etc that when they shift, you see a little white puff of smoke from the exhaust sometimes...... today i drove my beater while my friend drove my teg and it was ok, but when he downshifted from 5th to 4th i saw a puff of smoke.... seems like it only happened on downshifts, the smoke isnt anywhere near constant.... i recently had a bad oil leak, but it was under the car, and i assume it would just burn off, not come out the exhaust... i also have a test pipe, so i know that adds some **** in the exhaust that could get burned and smoke off....... my compression is solid 176-180 across the board... roughly 60k on an hmotors b18b jdm swap........
my question is, how come it seems so many cars blow smoke when you downshift? surely this many people can't have issues.... on the way home the other day, i came across 10+ civics on the highway and we ****ed around for a while, taking turns racing etc.... and almost all of them had this smoke when they downshift... i can't believe we all have problems, especially when my car runs perfectly.... but when people have to follow me, they ***** about the smoke and the smell of the exhaust.... anyone shine some light on this for me?
my mods are ihe if that matters
