Exhaust too short?

Alright guys, here is my problem...

I just got my Magnaflow cat-back exhaust in the mail today and began to install it. I took off my stock exhaust, and started to bolt on the resonator assembly (B-Pipe). What I'm having trouble is, the part where the b-pipe (after the resonator) and S-pipe meet, it looks like the B-pipe is 4 to 6 inches too short...

What could i do to fix this? And why is this happenin? Note, I only have the cat-back system. Would I need to buy a longer cat? The stock one is 18 or so inches. Or am igoing to have to have a 2.25" x 6" long pipe welded/added onto the b-pipe?

this is why you have a length problem.

they sent you the exhaust for the wrong year on the GSR.

if the stock downpipe is short, the exhaust has to be longer to make up the difference.

if the downpipe is longer, the exhaust has to be shorter to make up the difference.

notice that the 1994-1999 GSR down pipe on the stock header is different than the 2000-2001 GSR.

after 1999, Honda used the same stock exhaust for all 3 Integra models to save on the confusion and use 1 inventory part instead of 2 which saves them cash. Notice that even though the ITR downpipe is different, the length is the same as the 00-01 LS and GSR.

You can have a muffler shop to add a slip over longer Bpipe straight section or you can tell the shop that the screwed up and send you the right exhaust for the right year.

This was already covered here in Dec 2002 in this Gen 3 Forum COMMoN TOPIC.

If you don't know what a COMMoN TOPIC is on TI then please re-read this (which was presented to you when you registered here).

Thanks

I got a PM from Slava (95_Integra) saying that he doesn't understand the diagram posted above.

He said that his new exhaust is too short not too long.

I'll try to explain it:

yes, your new exhaust is too short for your 1995 GSR.

why?

because the guy in the store sent you a 2000-2001 GSR exhaust.

if you look at the diagram carefully, the 1994-1999 GSR A pipe is shorter than the 2000-2001 GSR's A pipe.

The total length from Apipe, cat, Bpipe, S section , catback exhaust/muffler is the same in both 2000-2001 and 1994-1999.

Deductive reasoning after looking at the above diagram of the downpipes will tell you that the 1994-1999 GSR exhaust therefore has to be LoNGER than the 2000-2001 GSR exhaust.

Just call the store back and tell them that they sent the wrong year's GSR exhaust because it is too short and you need to exchange. Should not be a huge problem for the store to switch them for you. It was probably an honest mistake.
