Check Engine Light

A couple of weeks ago my 1996 SE went into the shop to have the front end repainted. They removed my front bumper, painted and baked it separately in a booth while my car was in a garage covered up. I Picked up my Teg a few days ago the front end looks great like new, but when I drove off I noticed the check engine light was illuminated, I didn't see that on before. I figured it might have been something to do with the front bumper removal. So I reset the computer and the light went away so I figured it was a glitch, or something that was troubled when the body guy took off the front.

But a few days later I started the Teg up one morning and saw that the check engine light is on again. This usually has something to do with a sensor or something interfering with emissions am I correct? Because I do not know which sensor needs replacing, it is difficult to find the problem. I know that Acura dealerships can diagnose which sensor needs to be replaced by using a OBDII scanner, but they will charge for that. I was wondering if it possible to get this diagnoses scanner myself? Any suggestions or help with my problem would be greatly appreciated..

Just curious, I did some researching about jumping the wires to find trouble codes, I read that its actually dangerous and can back fire on you causing the ECU to short circuit. Is there a diagnoses plug in type scanner I can purchase for OBDII?
there's nothing wrong with doing it yourself... simply go get a paper clip open it up into a u shape... pop that thing out from the pass side and stick it in there and start your car..

Remember it's on the passenger side... many people try to find it on the driver side.
