So after i did a little rebuild on my car, she wouldnt start. somehow my dizzy died on me after i took it off the car... bought a used distributor off an 01 gsr. Car fired up right away but im getting check engine code p1382 Cylinder Position (CYP) Sensor No Signal. Looks like its a sensor inside the dizzy. Anybody else have this code on their teggy? What did you replace, because i dont know where it is or what the sensor looks like. Also car doesnt run as good either, when i punch it im feeling way less torque, cant really feel the vtec either... Thanks!

well ondemand says that the cyp sensor is located inside the distributor. it says to check the resistance of the wires on the connector then voltage(didnt get the specifics but i can if you like). buttttt if those check out ok then it says to replace the whole dizzy since the sensor is INSIDE the dizzy. its not accessible from the outside

ive heard of people changing out a sensor i believe there is a walk through on this site, or it might just have been inner seals. you'll have to do a little searching i know there is info on this out there.

deffinitly check your connections as i had 99 (cylinder at TDC) sensor which is in the distributor and it was just a loose wire.

I got a 1381 code, just bought the car (2000 GSR) and tried erasing the code with a scanner only to have the code come right back up immediately each time I fired up the engine. Well, I pulled the spark plug wires and oil came gushing up from 3 of 4 spark plug passages. I am convinced this is why I am getting the cylinder code because the wires are wet with oil and ignition signal is disrupted. Anyway, I got some of the oil falling into the cylinders as I was removing the plugs to replace them. I had to buy new wires and a valve cover seal kit but now I am wondering of I will be able to fire up the car with all that oil on top of the cylinders.

well the oil coming out of the spark plug hole is not a good thing if its gushing. i would recomend running a compression test on those cylinders. if its "gushing" sounds bad. possible blown rings. and a leakdown test is when you shoot compressed air into a cylinder to find out where air is coming out. a wet compression test is where you squirt a little oil into the chamber to try and determine if the rings are indeed blown.
i agree with mulisha. just replace the dizzy. it saves a lot of time and money even though it may seem like its more expensive.
