Has anyone repaired their own brake line? Trying to see if it's hard with the brake booster on a 96 LS automatic. As you can see mine's rusted out and is leaking.

I had to deal with rusting, leaking brake lines for the last few months. Bought all of the parts needed to replace them myself. Ended up taking it to a shop instead, as I didn't feel like ****ing with going through the sub-frame. They charged me $400 for labor. Others have had it done for as little as 250. It's not an impossible task by any means, but it's not the easiest to do on our cars. If you're not confident you can do it, you might be better served taking it to a professional, as having working brakes is kind of a big deal.

Another thing to note that my mechanic talked about: The fuel lines run right next to the brake lines. If they are also rusting, you need to be careful, as you could damage the fuel line and have to replace those as well.

can always just replace the whole line, mine were leaking at the prop valve and started to look rusty at same spot yours is leaking at, ordered steel braided replacement main lines and rear lines from ebay. so far no issues and been riding on them for 2 months.

wasn't a nightmare to replace but a little bit of a pain, reuse your hangers from old lines in rear and can use the oem placements along the bottom if you modify slightly.

Wish I would have went that route, I've been cutting the line and trying to flare the ends, forgetting to put the connector on first and having to cut the line again! What a headache!!! Finally got it done, now I'm spaying the connector with flex seal hoping it won't leak.
