Ok this such a newb question but it has been bugging me for a while. What is the stock redline on a gsr? Reason being I have p28 OBD1 ECU swap, and I can redline at 8500 is this normal or because of the swap. Another thing a buddy of mine who used to own a GSR was in mine and from a dead stop I hit it through the gears and by the time I was shifting into fourth I was doing 100 as usual, he said his couldn't do that and that its "not normal", is that not normal?

8200...thats my redline. Depending on your mods it may be slightly higher (as you stated)

you answer lies in this article

FWIW, 8100 is the redline. 8200 is the fuel cut.

So how much stress is actually being put on the internals, when shifting at 8500, now that we've established the the redline is suppost to be 8100.

when I glance at my redline it states right around 8g , but I did goto acura of brookfield and one specialist there told me that to go over that once in a GREAT while is not really going to mess up the motor. ( he said " theres a reason why it is that high, and then he added when you break in a motor make sure you push it the way it was ment to , not all at once, just ease into it.) But in all honesty for me is that once I do hit 8g and then switch gears, I'm always in vtec so I really never push it more then 8. I like to be safe when it comes to my motor.

acura told me it was 8k too and i still have the orig book i got from them when i bought the car. It is listed at 8K in there too. I think people just assume its 8k since the line on the 8 on the gauge is white not red.

Just because you can use the engines momentum to go higher doesnt mean the redline is higher. You can get the engine to spin faster than the fuel cut is, just from the momentum.

ITS BAD, dont do it. Wear in in engine is an exponential function of RPM. What that means is 1000-2000 rpms, minimal difference in wear. 8000-9000 rpms - HUGE difference in wear of internals.

RPM stands for RUINS PEOPLES MOTORS. It has and always will. The longer you're in the red, the shorter the motor will last.
