hay does anyone have any idea if cutting my GSR's block to fit in my t3/t4 turbo would be a good idea ? like... some say it would weaken my engine but does anyone know if this is true or not ?

i have tried to avoid cutting my block by buying another manifold *turbonetics* manifold but im not to sure if its genuine.. because it has the turbonetics *T* sign on it but also has the letters mexico on the manifold.

Another alternative i could use is to turn the turbo the other way around so that the hot part is facing the other way aroung...

cheers guys

Cutting the webbing *was a common practice with manifolds. I say was because most newer manifolds do not require it- especially tubular and equal length manis. If you are trying to stay with a cast manifold, get an inlinePRO manifold. It's cast, and does not require the webbing to be cut.

And yes, the other option is to turn the turbo around 180*.

I had cut up alot of the webbing on my block to make my turbo fit with some really lousy manifolds. I eventually bought a good PFab manifold, and it fits in there perfect, without touching anything.

Now I regret cutting the webbing. It looks a little ugly and it's in clear view. Get a manifold that works, and avoid cutting it if you can.

We grind down the webbing on blocks all the time at our shop, no biggie.. If you take your time it looks fine and doesn't hurt anything. Sometimes it is needed to notch the block to tuck a big turbo as close as you can. I personally hate when a turbo hangs way out.

We use a angle grinder with a flap type wheel on it, works like a charm.

It's not really any big deal. Do it if you have to. I just wish I hadn't cut mine because it looks kind of ugly and I'm picky about it, haha. I could probably get in there and make it look better, but it's too cold... My cousin thought I was crazy when I was in there cutting away at it with an airsaw...

If I had to do it all over again, I would've just bought a good manifold in the first place, and not messed with the webbing. That doesn't mean you can't cut it to make what you have work. It's just what I would do. Peace of mind thing I guess.

all your answers helped heaps =D
Very much appreciated *thumbs up*

but one last question.. because i live in australia, does anyone know where i can source thoes mentioned manifolds from ?

and can anyone tell me how much roughly would it cost to do the exaust system all the way from the downpipe.
i had a quote for about a grand to do the exaust all the way from the downpipe and im not too sure if im getting ripped off or not.. by the way the exaust system i got quoted for is most probably a migg welded exaust system

once again thanks guys =D

Cutting the block shouldnt be a problem but as everyone said its probably much easier and better looking if you just save up for a better manifold. Itll be worth it in the long run to save that extra weeks pay to get a better manifold

We ship internationally, we just had an sr20 manifold go to italy last week, so australia is no problem.

Drifting mafia style, oh yeah baby. Lol.

I think cutting up the webbing is more of a apperance thing. I've seen some real hack jobs.

It's one of those deals where you can't go back on it, I tend to shy away from them. It's your car. Do what it do.
