Ok so starting yesterday or 2 days ago, I've started to hear this loud metal vibration at certain rpms, so I popped the hood and had a friend rev the engine to where it does it, and it sounds like its coming from UNDERNEATH the intake manifold. Does anyone know what this could be that is vibrating? It seemed to only begin to do this once the engine warmed up. I'm hoping its just a heat shield or something simple, but I really don't know. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

This is a common problem. Usually, the heat shielding on the cat slowly rusts loose and vibrates at certain RPMs. Same is true for all of the heat shielding above the exhaust pipe.

Try laying next to your car with your head near the back of the front wheel. If it is the cat, I'm sure you'll know it. You can have an exhaust shop either weld it back on, or cut it off.

I think the heat shielding on the cat has already been removed, could it be anything else cat/exhaust-related?
