I thing transmission bearing is going bad. I can hear noise comming from right side of the car when I shift 1st and 2nd gear or down shift.
Anybody experienced something like this before?
My car has 140000 miles and I just got it. We did motor work and new clutch. Everything is great, except that tranny noice. Car shifts great with no problems.

is it a whining or knocking noise? only way to know is to crack open your tranny. you will know which bearings are shot

It's more like whining noise. It's not knocking. Shifting is great with no problems.

If it's whining already, one or more of your bearings have gone bad... probably from having too little transmission fluid in there and overheating.

My friend had this problem and when we took his tranny apart, the balls of the bearings fell out. Definitely not good.

If you want to avoid spending more money later, take it apart as soon as you can.

Rebuilds can be expensive... a new, warrantied ITR tranny from Acura will cost you around $1400, so that is always an option.

I'll just buy used tranny with low miles. I should be able to find one under $400.
