Ok, here is my ordeal. I've gone through this forum to figure out what performance tires to purchase to replace the stock Michelins on my GSR. It has done nothing but confuse me. To cut to the chase....
1. which size would be best for the stock GSR rims (stock size is 195/55-15), 205/50-15 or 205/55-15?
2. And will the difference of 10 between the 195 and 205 give a negative difference or positive difference in grip?

I am looking at the Bridgestone S-03 tires right now, and their site states that the 205/50-15s and the 205/55-15s can fit the stock GSR rims Bridgestone Size and Specs. What is the real big difference between the two? I am getting pretty technical because I wanna be extra sure that what I am getting is the best for my car (don't we all though).

205/50-15s are going to be slightly smaller than stock (circumference) and the 205/55-15s will be slightly larger than stock (circumference again). Both however will be wider than the stock tires.

Right now I have some 205/50/15s (potenza s-03) on order to put on a set of 15x7 rims. I don't anticipate much difference in ride height.

i think the choice is really ur's. the difference won't be much. just to let you know most people who don't run 195/55's usually run 205/50's on 15's. when you increase section width (205) you decrease sidewall ratio (50). that's my understanding of tire sizing. i myself run bfg euro t/a 205/50's. going to get kuhmo ecstas next.
