I gotta take my Kicker 3 channel amp out and send it in for repairs. The amp is hooked up to a cap. What do I need to do to safely remove the amp? I know to disconnect the power supply from the amp first, then the ground, but I'm concerned about the cap. Also, should I cover the connectors with anything while the amp is disconnected for the next few weeks?

no you wont need to discharge it, it will be fine staying charged.

Agreed, how long do you think it'll take to get fixed? If you really want to discharge it though to be safe just go grab a big resistor from radio shack or something and connect the terminals and just leave it like that till you get your amp, but this really isn't needed.

i used to just take the fuse out, then turn the radio on to discharge it. Then just tape the remote wire and leave the fuse out. It wont hurt to electrical tape the other ones tho.
