I just got my OBD I ECU with the Skunk2 chip installed. I have the conversion harness as well, so I should be good to go..To hook this up, do I just need to plug and play? I have the thing tuned with the VAFC and I don't want to run lean and hurt the motor..I'm getting a clutch and flywheel installed, and getting it dynoed in a week..Should I just wait, or is safe to do now?

Thanks

The skunk2 is good to go as is. Just zero your VAFC fuel settings for now. You can set the lo and hi cam fuel maps later at the dyno using a wideband O2 sensor, in the exhaust tip for continuous air:fuel ratio readouts. I assume your VAFC settings were set on the stock ECU. If so, where along the rpm range were they set to leanout and on which cam? where was your VTEC switchover...you'll have to redo those at the dyno. Remember that the goal is try to achieve a flat torque curve that sits at the highest value possible for the widest rpm range in your powerband. The goal is not air fuel ratio itself. The AF ratio is just a compass to guide you as to whether to richen or lean further and by how much. It gives you an idea of whether to go further in one direction or stop. Please don't make the AF ratio your target like many people mistakenly do...the target is the torque curve shape with the least amount of dips in it as possible.
