I'm looking into security systems and have a few questions for those who have them. I saw two kinds at circuit city that i liked. The viper models and alpine models looked the best. The alpine seems to have more features for the price, but i haven't heard much about them. Everyone has told me that vipers are the best. Just want some input on what you guys think i should go for.

well i have a viper alarm and i like it...i've heard nothing but good things from alpine...so in the end they are both good and it's your choice.

its going to be hard to judge install quality based on "i had an alarm installed at ____________" (insert CC, BB, other stores) since in the big chain stores, the people are VERY varied at install skill/levels/etc
your best bet at a place like that is to find out who the supervisor is back in the bay (ask a salesman what his name is), and then, when back in the bay, be like: "yeah, i'd like insert name here to install my alarm, friend recommended them"
it'd be a good general rule that the supervisor would know what he's doing

as for DEI (Viper, Python, Sidewinder) vs Alpine.. as someone who has owned, and installed, both brands, you won't go wrong with either brand....
