I have a 97 gsr, doing pads and rotors all around and I'm running into an issue with compressing the rear caliper piston. I'm aware that to compress it you shouldn't use any clamps, just a tool to turn it clockwise into the caliper housing, the problem is that I spin it clockwise and it no longer compresses while still being out of the housing by about a quarter inch. It threads in up to that point but then continues to spin and no longer compresses. At this point I'm assuming it's somehow damaged and needing to be replaced, just wondering if there's anything I'm missing?

Back it back out, clean off the surrounding portion of the exposed piston inspect for damage, and try again?

Either grab a rebuild kit or just replace the caliper.

Mine stuck out a bit too but still cleared the pads. Are your calipers not clearing the pads?
