I have the Tanabe Racing Medallion Exhaust and at certain RPMs the exhaust makes this awful resonator rattling noise. I hate it so if anyone has any ideas please help! I love the exhaust all but the rattling noise is killing it!

If you have a stock bumper then it should be the bumper and the racing medallion tapping one another. To fix this problem, you have to cut the bumper. I left mine alone b/c it doesn't bother me much but it's up to you.

It is in the can or muffler itself. It rattled around when I was installing it and I wondered what it was. It only is a problem and WOT at some RPMs. Could a muffler shop fix it?

I don't have the silencer in right now. It is a metallic rattle inside the muffler.

i would say a loose bolt or someone threw something in your exhaust.

hmm... Is that fixable? If so does anyone know how much or do I have to buy another can or live with the rattle?

Does it rattle when you first turn it on, while the car is cold? If it does, then the only way to get rid of it is by getting another muffler..

return the can under warranty...condensation sometimes loosens the inner tubing inside the can...DC exhausts were well known to have this happen after 2 years....

It really doesn't matter if the car is warmed up or not just when WOT is hit certain RPMs it makes those noises.

my racing medallian sounds like crap too. the weld on one of the mounts broke, and took some of the pipe with it. now because i had to drive without a mount the resonator has cracked at the seem! tanaba wont take it back directly, i have to go through the distributor i bought from in florida, they send to tanabe, tanabe gets around to look at it, decides if its manufadturer defect. sends me a complete new exhaust. im in ny. im lookin at 2 weeks for just shipping alone!! i cant be without my car and dont have the stock exhaust to put on in the meantime. plus i just got fired today, so i dont exactly have tons of cash to be throwing around for a new catback! i did happen to get one of those neat metal maxx racers though! pretty sweet. only 10 bucks on ebay! i know its OT but i dont care. im unemployed and dangerous. ive got a pink slip.....and im not afraind to use it!

since my written warning about my performace/behavior that said i wasnt performing up to par, a month ago. i was told i needed to show SIGNIFIGANT IMPROVEMENT, i did improve but apparently not enough! i worked for ingram micro at the microsoft licensing desk. we just had a HUGE promo end last wednesday and had until yesterday to enter the orders. the bastards waited until the promo ended to can me. they used me like a tampon and tossed me in the toilet. im not bitter though! maybe a little! now i have time to setup the performance part website ive been slowly working on. hopefully someone will answer my question about my exhaust!

Tighten the catilitic conver heat shield. I had a rattleing problem with my heat shield on the same exhaust. I got new bolts and nuts at Ace for around a dollar. It fixed the problem right up.

if you exuast has broken wleds then have them rewelded and for the first guy if it rattled when you where installing it the why did you install it?muffelers dont rattle unless the glasspack is broken

my real question is it harmfull to drive my car for two weeks without an exhaust while i wait for the replacement from tanabe? it sounds like s**t but is it harmful?? i mean no backpressure at all isnt good is it??
