This is my Project Type-R

a-bit of History:

I purchase this vehicle in 2018 in Ontario Canada sight unseen because it was 6 hours away. The seller said it was in good condition which was an understatement when I received it on the car carrier and ended up with this. That being said this was a numbers matching engine and trans type-r with no prior history of theft of accidents. So I decided to embark on the restoration journey.

After replacing all fuel, brake lines, rad, calipers, brakes rotors, pads and tires. It was mechanically sound enough to get it home from the shop. So I decided to make this post to fully document its journey.

On its way ( I wouldn’t recommend using this towing company , the guy was a headache to deal with held my car for 3weeks) :

You did it right! I'm thinkn if the person you bought if from saw it now, that fast buck smile would hit the floor.
It's coming along and you said it's "all" there.
That's a huge bonus, these days!

GLWB keep T I in the loop.

A few more updates, doors are hung and hatch and hood are installed. The only downside to this whole project is the original doors, hood, fenders hatch had to be sourced from another vehicle. There was too much work to restore them , they were too far gone but Hopefully it won’t hurt the value too much if I sell down the road.

This shot drives me nuts, I'd be there with a bucket of hot soapy water and a micro fiber cleaning the rear section, lol.

Don’t worry that’s in the plans , but most body guys thinks that’s outside their scope of work. Lol . I was just invited to take a look at the progress.

Finally on its way to storage , just need to mount up the side skirts , reassemble the interior and get the decals and emblems on. General maintenance will be next on the list, the biggest concern now is the timing belt and water pump.

Great job on the project! What’s the plan for the car now that she’s done?
General Maintenance like timing belt water pump, valve adjustment and making the Ac work again. I haven’t been able to drive it much since I got it, I want to workout all the little gremlins, then I’ll decide if I want to keep it or sell.

Beautiful work! The shop definitely has OCD manager, it's so clean, ...for a body shop.
Hope the interior turns out as well exterior.

@T-Ram that looks amazing. I'm currently having my DC2-R restored and have a restoration thread on ITR-DC2.com. Mine has had BOTH rear quarters and inner arches chopped out and replaced. It'll be ready for painting pretty soon.
