1995 Acura Integra GS-R BLK/BLK . My Plan is to post progress pics and look for friendly advice on how to handle situations.

As the description says, the vehicle has been sitting for 2 years or longer. Previously owned by my brother from 2010 till 2018. Recently i purchased it because its been sitting for so long that i got tired of looking at a project that doesnt want to be worked on.

Recently I jacked it up to have it sit on four jack stands. it was sad to find out that the rear passenger side jack point completely folded into the frame from all the rust. I lifted in a safe local position with some wood on the lift and safely secured the vehicle on four stands.

Other than the major rust issue, I will be looking forward to getting the engine up and running again, (which seems like the easy part compared to the rust issue i will eventually tackle)

I have done plenty of research and know the basic steps to preparing an engine to be started after sitting for a long time. IE siphon out old gas and replace with new gas, replace oil, oil filter, gas filter, spark plugs, plug wires, ignition coil cover, and a special cylinder lubricator spray for pre first ignition cranking.

I would like to hear some friendly words of advice from anyone willing to take the time to give me some constructive critisism.

Thank you for reading, and I will be posting more to come.

05/18/18 Friday Evening
Used Acid on the wheels to remove all Break Dust.
Used Steam Cleaner inside the engine bay after dry cleaning for a quick simple clean.
Removed both Driver and Passenger Seats and vacuumed all dirt and debri.
Lift the vehicle onto 4 jack stands.

05/22/18 Tuesday Morning..
Performed OIL CHANGE / FILTER CHANGE
Opened Air Intake to Spray some Starter Fluid
(TANK WAS EMPTY) *SUPRIZED ME* Put 5 gallons fresh fuel mixed with a bottle of SEAFOAM
Grabbed a Battery Jumper and CRANKED
Engine started rough, then PERRRD. Engine is up and running!
>>>Checked the Coolant and still bright green with decent protection. (SHOULD I CHANGE IT?)<<<

06/02/18 Sunday Afternoon
Bought some tools. Rustolium spray products-
Rust Reform spray, Underbody spray, Primer Filler spray, Black Gloss spray, Engine Cleaner Spray, Brake Parts Cleaner Spray
Spin Wire brush kit for electric drill
Rust and Paint remover attachment
Multi grit sandpaper and block
So I gone about grinding for about 2 hours and took off the plastic parts around the rust. I wire brushed the majority of it and put the rust and paint remover to use. Look at the photos to see how its looking. Any ideas for me?

MORE WORK
Examining the steering and suspension... Everything needs to be replaced!
I will be ordering new steering Kit for control arms, cambers, Tie Rods, control arms and cambers. new spring and strut (or should i get coilovers) and replace bushings. Exhaust Downpipe is rusted to hell as well. Need one of those too. Anything that looks like it needs to be replaced... gets replaced and more. I’m no mechanic but i have enjoyed tinkering with cars for some time. I dont think i can lift the engine and take it out however i would love to try to achieve that and clean and replace parts.
A lot to do before i can take this old dog for a test drive. But that day will be SWEET !

I applaud you for taking this issue yourself, good luck with the fix and keep the pictures coming!

I'm in the same issue as you, I have a 96 GSR and stored it about 2 years and it developed major rust issues on both sides of the quarter panels. My driver side is pretty similar, but my passenger is not nearly as bad as yours. Good news is that the undercarriage is clean. I had an issue with my brake and fuel lines rusting out.

Overall . No new work has been done. My brother had a melt down and wanted to buy the car back. Now its still sitting in the parking lot with all 4 lifts holding it up and he’s talking about buying other cars. Dude. Make up your mind! Buy your car back and fix it or buy another car and move on.....!!! Brothers!!!

Anyway. I bought a 1996 Acura Integra SE with B18b1 motor. So what if the motor is older. It’s not what i wanted. But the body has so much less rust and i can drive it right now. No waiting

Plus i bought already tons of parts . So all those parts i can use towards the 96 . Almost 1,000$ worth of parts for steering and suspension parts. So at least i will have the car driving good. Will do as much as i can for removing and patching rust spots. Redu the paint. Well there is a long list of things to do. I will make a new thread for my new project this year :)

I'd probably throw in a new timing belt/tensioner/water pump kit for added freshness, considering you're doing everything else maintenance-wise. Otherwise sounds like you got a winner. Tell your brother too bad, so sad. :)

That rust looked rough!! Sounds like you made a smart move buying a different teg that doesnt need as much rust repairs. Cant wait to see what the future holds for you and your build!
