I was thinking about getting a Sony CDX M-730 deck and some Infinity Reference 605cs components for the front. The h/u is supposed to be 23.5 watts rms. Anyone have any opinions about the deck or the components? Here's the links for both. Thanks all.

Not a big fan of the newer Sony decks (no complaints on their older models though)...I'd look into something else there.

There's no question that your system would sound much better, cleaner, etc. w/a separate amp. However, if you don't want to mess w/an amp, then look at the Pioneer decks...or any other brand that uses a MOSFET amp (not sure who else is off the top of my head). That type of solid state amp usually sounds the best.

As for the speakers...I've heard mixed things. Listen to them yourself and compare them w/others, base your decision on that.

i was lookin' at those same speakers, and i have the deh-p6400 also, think it'd be good to get an external amp? i believe the components run 90 watts rms, so i doubt if my 23 watts or whatever can push those well enough...
also to the people that have the 6400, have you tried switching the rear preouts to subwoofer? if so, how are the crossovers and controls working? thanks...
