Painted block and tranny?

521 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  TheGSRGuy
I have been thinking of doing this for some time or trying to polish it to a chrome like finish.. I saw some pics over on Honda-Tech about this but what paint should I use. I'm pulling my motor out soon for the motor build up and would do this during that time. I have also saw people polish the power steering mount and will probably attempt this this weekend. I figured I'll get my DA sander and do 80 grit, then 100, then 220, then 440, 500, 800, 1000, 2000, then polish?

Anyone that has done this or knows how to do this your input is wanted.

Good plan on the PS bracket, but as far as the block/tranny you would have to spray. Trying to polish and keep a clean look to the block and tranny would be a never ending task. There are high temp paints all over for such a project
Look for "engine enamel". There are many companies who make super-high temp ceramic paints for engine blocks. They won't last forever though, perhaps 6-12 months. This used to be popular with the muscle car crowd.
