i have a "primary o2 sensor" short. I need to replace my o2 sensor and they are pretty expensive and i was wondering if there was anything like a bypass or eliminator(like MIL eliminators for my mustang).
thanks
Jeff
since it's the primary I'd get a new one.....you might be able to find a way to eliminate it but I can't see anyway that'll help your mpg so it would end up costing you more in the end...
not for the primary one..it's the one that controls your injectors during closed loop ECU operation. you can't bypass it like the second one after the cat which is only checking if the cat is working. the primary one runs the show.
you'll just get a CEL but it has no effect on your ECU kicking into limp mode or anything like that...it's a warning.
I wouldn't just run without a cat. You need a length of tubing after the open header or a diffuser to maintain the exhaust gas speed or else the temp difference just dies and so does the gas speed...that basically kills your scavenging effect.
