Is there a way to open or release the trunk from the inside of a 2 door Hatch - 2000 Acura Integra, without cutting into the plastic?

The actuator mechanism of the rear door is broken. I tried using the key, turning to the right to open it and it isn't working. I could hear the motor making a winding sound, but it wouldn't allow the trunk to open. Only had one key so I didn't want to over-torque the key into the key hole.

Unfortunately, when these actuators go out with the trunk closed, cutting into the plastic is the last resort.

I have to hold the key to the right while unlocking the latch to open it.

question. does your key work on the passenger side door and or the glove box? if it is a valet key i dont think it will only work on the driver door and ignition and nothing else, not the trunk or glove box or passenger door.
