i just bought my 95 ls and im trying to find out if the block is stolen under were it says b block code there is a number i asume the number is for theft is there a way i can find out if the block is stolen without losing my engine is there a web site i can run the block the car has a clean title but this car has vtec. idont want any trouble from the law

I don't think there's any website unless your state's law enforcement and/or DMV has something like that.

If it has VTEC, it's not the original motor from an LS. What makes you think it's stolen? There's lots of people who do motor swaps.

Im sure the cops can run the VIN for you, but LS/VTEC is very common. What does it say on your block? Not in the VIN, but the stamp on the bottom half of the motor?

cant you run the vin on carfax or autocheck? That vin should be the same as the one of the car it came from so you should be able to see if it has a theft record.

Are their VIN tags on our blocks? If you really want to know, you could CarFax the VIN. I can't remember if it's on the block, or just the tranny. (There's one on the tranny right? )

He's talking about the serial number on the block, I think.

Running CarFax on the VIN plate on the block might turn up some info, perhaps the previous car it came from was totalled.

im talking about the B18B Stamp that should be on the block, so we can know if he has a motor swap or LS/V

ok here is the scoop i love this car i went to a local performance shop the guy looked at the car and said if you get pulled over with stolen goods the law takes the car asked me if there was paper work for the motor i dont have any. i got the car from different performance shop 80 miles from my house they dont return my calls check my profile about car its wierd . the car moves when i bought it i hooked up the vtec. the shop was a dsm shop had no clue about hondas. the little block has grown on me im new to the acura but i want know if this block is hot that all i care about

thats true but they did have the engine code stamped on them.

Youre definitely looking at a complete swap then. Just run the VIN if youre worried its hot

00 si engine should have VIN on block. Its on the back side where the oil filter is. I dont' think you can do anything with the number under the block stamp. At least I don't know of anything.

Check back side of oil pan where oil filter is. VIN plate is stamped there as well for that year engine.

00 si motor vin is on the front of the block by the oil pan behind the header. only single cams carry it in the back by the alternator.

the number under the ID stamp ( which is block serial number)
can be ran by the police to see if a motor is stolen. but authorities will only check a block if it is in their presence so that they can take it if it doesn't check out. they wont do it over the phone.

the first number is the year of the engine (meaning 5= 5th year of production, 6= 6 year of production) and the remaining 5 digits is the serial number

also 94 and 95 tegs have no vin plates just a block serial number fyi
