Well I just finished modifying the stock intake on my GS-R. I removed the resonator and cut the tube going into it from the intake at the right-angle bend. I removed the resonator completely and now have a psuedo-CAI! Off to a TI meet now, so I'll see what it sounds like on the ride there.

Update:

The engine definitely revs faster below 4000. The sound is a bit deeper, and sounds much more 'performancey' (LOL). It was about 91 here today so I can definitely vouch that it doesn't bog down at all when sitting in traffic. This setup is similar to the ITR's. Was it worth the cuts and dirty hands? Yes.
