Hey All,

As some of you may or may not know, Steve Gilboy, the founder of Team-Integra has been ill for a while now and this afternoon, he passed away. While it's definitely too early to have details about any arrangements, it's never too early to share memories. I'd like to start this thread and welcome anyone that knew or met Steve to share their favorite memories.

While it's in no way comprehensive, I'll just say quickly that Steve changed my life. I owe my career, my mindset about travel, and much of my car knowledge to Steve and the community he created. I have lifelong friends because of this site and I'll be forever grateful to Steve for what he created and fostered for so many years.

Z/Steve was a truly amazing human. Generous, loving, helpful, selfless, smart, and a goofball. He helped innumerable people here and in real life. He was particularly helpful to me when I jumped into the Integra world from being a H-T nerd with a Civic. His gifts of both knowledge and tools were invaluable. Most importantly, in the early days of T-I, he made a family out of a community. He's also a gigantic part of why #integrafriendarethebestfriends exists online.

Race in peace my friend. We'll always love you.

I was never as close as the Florida crew or anything like that just because of distance. But I’ll never forget those time up on the Dragon, taking photos of him proposing to Diane, or just drunken kickball. He was an amazing man and I owe a ton of my car passion and knowledge to him and this website. Thank you Steve! We love and will miss you!!

I wonder how many of us are logging onto TI for the first time in years, checking in on the place that brought us together. Steve had a talent for that - handling the logistics to bring people with a shared passion into the same place, helping them share knowledge and beers, never a stranger to anyone. The man lived more in the time he had than most people do in twice as long and I'll always be grateful for the things I learned from him, the friends I made through him, and the time spent with those friends in the mountains.

As I'm finding out this morning about his passing, my heart aches for his family and all of the lives that he has touched. As the pain has settled in, I find comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his wife, Diana. Both were taken from this earth too quickly, and he will be deeply missed throughout the automotive culture that he helped create.

RIP buddy.

It's hard to explain how much Steve meant to myself and so many other people or how much he improved our lives. Quite simply, he's responsible for the creation of a community and of a common knowledge resource that will endure for decades. So many of us have become better people or had our lives improved because of him that it's astounding to me. I'll miss him greatly.

So I was a Civic guy and Never Owned an Integra!... and Team-Integra was my go-to forum. I remember my first few posts getting locked and thinking to myself, "What in the Gestapo is going on with this forum?" Then I slowly understood the culture and how it made Team-Integra different. I don't know if I've ever seen another community ran forum run like this. When someone got promoted to Moderator there was a jealousy that it wasn't you that received that title, but deep down inside, we all knew that that person deserved it!

Who all remembers the early days when it felt like Michael Delaney was a God amongst mere men?!?! LOL

I'll pour out a quart of Mobile1 for my Z... well maybe not. But you understand the sentiment!

While I only had the pleasure of meeting Steve one time in person at a Dragon Run we had communicated for many years before and after that on TI. Steve was kind and always willing to help anyone out. He had no problem taking time out of his day to write back when i was stuck and couldn't figure something out. With his friendly personality and this site he impacted so many people. He created a way to connect car people with other car people from all over the country.

I can definitely say without this site I would have very little knowledge of cars in general. Ever since I bought my first Integra at 18 and then spending days researching and reading his articles on general maintenance/information about these cars my need for "just transportation" quickly turned into a hobby. I went from not knowing where or what a thermostat was to being able to do just about anything with a car.

Steve may not be here with us anymore but the impact he had on all of us will always remain. RIP

I've housesat for Steve when he went to China for a vacation and have had him up to PA a few times. Also got to hang out with him and Diana at the Dragon before she passed. He was just always going 100 miles per hour and just jumped right into whatever. He was always willing to sacrifice his own time to help others. Just an endlessly giving person - I don't know of another person in my life who even approaches his level when it comes to that.

He was a friend to so many people - who knew him beyond the MorningZ screen name. His impact is immeasurable and his memory will forever be engrained in people's heads. The world needs more people like Steve and is a lesser place without him.

RIP Steve, May you reunite with Dianna And have eternal peace. Steve was a great dude, he introduced me To the tail of the Dragon, a place I recently got to return to after a long time away.

I learned quit a bit from him and I am forever grateful for the opportunity he provided me. It is unfortunate we hadn’t talked in many years.

While I've never met him it was easy to see the enormous contributions he's made to the car community and his willingness to help others.

I joined Team Integra back in '06 followed his articles to assist me in tackling Integra projects, the car which made me a lifelong car enthusiast.

RIP my man.

Wow...coming up on 20 years of T-I for me, and knowing Steve for almost as many. The community he built, and all the friendships & relationships that came from it, is nothing short of amazing.

Soooo many good times over the years with & because of him -- really glad to have visited him a few months ago and reminisce.

He was dealt a lot of ****ty cards in life, which is just not right for such a caring & selfless person.

Gonna miss you man...

I haven't posted here in eons but reset my account today. Here's what I said over on ITRCA:
RIP Stephen Gilboy / MorningZ of team-integra.net
Announcement on t-i: Memories of Stephen Gilboy (MorningZ) - Founder of...

Stephen Gilboy / MorningZ passed away yesterday. Founder of team-integra.net and an amazing friend to the entire Integra community.

Steve became a lifelong friend in the first year of t-i. For those who might not remember, Steve and a few others (SurferX for example) created t-i as a counter to what SHO and others had become. It was in the same era as honda-tech forming in response to honda-acura.net and so on. ITRCA was also in its infancy.

I joined Steve's site near the beginning, and it was my introduction to the Integra community. His approach was very different at the time with a focus on community and helping others. If it was not for him, I don't know that I would have explored the community more. I credit him with my growth and own role in the Integra world, ITRCA, ITR Expo, etc. I learned a lot from him and am forever grateful. Steve was both personable and talented. He basically re-wrote the code structure for the snitz forum software at the time as well as created t-i entire structure including the articles, etc. It was a mammoth site that helped countless owners.

Below is a photo of the first t-i mod / admin gathering in Vegas from 2005.

Myself and many others will miss him. I will share any public service info as I can.

I just logged in after more than 10 years! I heard the news on fb. Completely devastated. Felt like the end of an icon for me. Stephen brought so many of us together. I made life long friends because of Stephen and his T-I. I will never forget the joy and memories I gained through T-I and the dragon runs. We will miss you !

P.s I still own my integra abd it still sports a team-integra sticker that Stephen gave to me in person upon visitng me in Canada years ago!

I can't help but smile & see very familiar screen names with post counts over 100+ that I've forgotten about over the years, in one thread once again. It's obvious that Steve created a positive car culture that all of us "OG's" have come back to, and pay tribute to the person who started it all.

and pay tribute to the person who started it all.
And that's seriously the truth for so many. All of my car knowledge is traced back to this site. My mom or sister always ask how I got so knowledgeable fixing cars - I told them team-integra....Steve. It's easy as pie to pinpoint where this all started.

I'm coming up on 20 years as a member of this site - and in some ways - it feels like just yesterday the traffic at this place was overwhelming.
