i thought a used b16 head w/ ecu would cost around 300-400. If i'm right then you didn't get the better end of the deal b/c a zex kit is around 500. Unless you got the kit for less, i don't think it was a good deal but it's what you want in your teg that counts. If you do the ls/vtec properly then you should push around 200whp. That's better than nitrous!

if he uses a stock ls short block and b16a cams, he won't get 200 whp. you need big pistons, at least 310-370 injectors, and bigger cams with a decent 2.5 in. exhaust system to get that puppy anywhere near that number....remember with just the head and the block you are looking to make the same as a gsr with i/h/e using a 2.25 in. exhaust system....don't hype it up...keep it real...

You need to run an ss oil line for the vtec, and some machining on the head dowel pins, and tap and seal the oil supply on the head, While the head is at the machine shop midas well send them the block to be resleeved and some even lower compression pistons, j/k, do what you can..

and therein lies the problem.....

you can run a turbo with an LS VTEC AS LoNG AS THE BOOST IS LOW : 8 psi.

The head and block were never meant to be put together in the first place and then add too much cylinder pressures inside and it's like popping a champagne bottle cork...unless you don't care about how long it lasts. Then in that case, run as high a boost as you need....

MD what if you build a ls/vtec with good part like you would for a turbo. Like new rods, cams, injectors, intake manifold, pistons, new bearings, new seals, new gaskets stuff like then. Then would you beable to boot high for say 15 psi and still be safe.
