I have a boosted LS-Vtec, the car is tuned and other than a surging idle runs perfectly (surge is only over a 100rpm range)

HOWEVER, when driving at night i can see smoke in the headlights of cars behind me, but only at wide open throttle after vtec kicks in.

i have a 3inch exhaust with NO CAT

the amount of smoke looks similar to the car in this video I just cant tell what color it is at night

The car does not seem to burn any oil.

Am being paranoid?

If you're not burning oil or coolant, then its just smoke from the lack of cat and richer fuel mix of a boosted car.

yup, since the car runs richer, youre going to get a bit of smoke. totally normal.

But running rich is not good. You need to get it fixed.

^ithats true, there isnt any way of knowing without seeing the car.

SMOG = Fog and smoke. Is your car blowing fog?

Any reasonably intelligent tuner will tune the car to run a bit on the rich side to increase the longevity....especially if it's a daily driver.

Yes its pretty normal to see rich readings at WOT. LEt alone in VTEC on a car that probably hasn't been opened up for a few days with some buildup. I think its normal, but have not seen the video posted so can't say for sure if its bad or not.

And I agree with Justin, its smoke and not smog.
