Is Front Grille Plastic Useful?

Hey,
I want to install a nifty looking front grille using ever-stylish gutter cover and I was looking at the bumper, and realized that everything would look much better if I installed it from the inside of the bumper, so there wouldn't be any ugly zip ties or scratching edges.

So the real question is: Is there any reason that I couldn't just cut away the black plastic framework and install the mesh? Does it affect the rigidity of the bumper in a significant way?

It seems to me that all it would do is make the car look cleaner, and let more air flow to my cold air intake and radiator. I'd rather have someone's advice (I don't really care who, as you can tell) before I start cutting the front bumper up. Thanks!

Yowzah!!! All that stuff believe it or not does give the bumper support to keep its shape. If you cut away the framework there's more of a chance your bumper will begin to um...start warping. Such as the the bottom portion will begin to sag more. Just buy yourself a Grillcraft grill. Perfect fit, doesn't look half bad.

I cut mine a while back and installed a nice mesh . I painted it blue it looks nice. The only problem with it is that yes my bumper is a little saggy now BUT only because one side of it has lost its bolt and washer so it is a little loose. Over time i can agree that it will sag . Another thing is the middle bar. If you have one it is highly connected and supported by the black plastic framework. If you want ill put some pics on to show the sagging. In my opinion it isnt anything that is that noticeable because you can attach the mesh from the top piece and to the bottom piece which will add a lot of support.
