As the title suggests, I’m having trouble checking the timing on my car. It’s a 96 turbo gsr. I know you have to jump the connector in the glove box, but I have no idea where to point the timing light? I know it’s somewhere on the crank pulley, but I can’t really see anything except the actual belt. Also, when I attempted to check it I jumped the connector, let it run for a little bit and went back inside and the dang thing was on fire. As you can tell I’ve never done this before 😂

Normally when you rotate the lower crankshaft the timing marks will called out, and that's where a pointer on the engine block point to. But will that thing is already on fire/sparking, maybe you should find your dealer to talk about this.
