I guess this is kinda off topic, but can the antenna be made to stay down while a CD is playing? Also, I heard that eventually your antenna will bend a bit if you do a lot of highway driving...is that true?
I believe so. That's why so many people have problems with their antennas not going back down or not extending all the way. I got so irritated by it that I just changed my antenna to an S2000 setup.

ok i finaly got around to trying to get to try this and i cant pull off the side pannel, i unscrewed all the screws that i can see and i undid all the snap thingies, but it still wont come off, i noticed that it might be hitting the middle pannel in the hatch but i'm not sure if i need to take that off. I have seen some walkthroughs on how to do it but they all just say take off the side pannel

if they all say "take off the side panel", then take off the side panel..

there is a picture step by step to remove that panel in our very own articles section....

it actually will. my dad's 95 camry has the same type of antenna as the teg, and that thing got bent up pretty bad. at one point, it didnt even go down all the way when turned off.

i did a relay switch on my antenna. i think it's cool that i can make it go up or down when ever i want to. i usually keep it down though, i barely listen to the radio (i hate commercials) and i think the car looks better with it down.

the difference between mine, and morningZ's radio's is that i had to tap into the wire that was blue with a white stripe. so if you are goin to put in a switch, make sure you are specific to your radio.

oh yeah

to save the trouble, you can always go to your local audio shop, or even "best buy", drop 30 bucks or so, and tell them you want to add an antenna overwrite switch. 10 minutes later, voila, you'll have a teg with no antenna sticking in the air while listening to your favorite gospel cd.

If i wanna just unplug it from behind my deck (radio)... how can i do so.. all diagrams show inside the trunk.. but i just wanna disconnect it from the deck so it doesnt try to go up and down cause someone caught my antenna with their coat and broke it.. so it cant go down/up.. i havent listened to music in a week cause ive been busy and if i put a cd then the antenna goes up, breakes and falls over the side..
Can i just pull the wire out from my deck or do i cut it or what?

TegGSR96: You can unplug the motor, that's what I did w/my old Celica. If you have the stock deck, that's what I would do if you don't want the hassle of installing a switch right now (not hard though). If it's an aftermarket deck, just disconnect the signal/remote-turn on wire (usually blue, sometimes w/white stripe) from behind the deck.

streetsynner: just search s2k antenna s2000...tons of stuff. Check the common topcics in the audio forum as well, there's a link in there. Good luck.
