I've been poking around on Honda-Tech.com a little bit and looking through their FI FAQ. There is a lot of complete garbage on there but there is also some really good info.

Basically most of their technical posts are way off base and are a waste of time - sooo much misinformation. However, there are a lot of turbo guys who have shared their PERSoNAL EXPERIENCES.

So again, the physics discussions are totally f'd but if you're willing to dig through it, there's some good stuff there.

This goes to show what can happen if a forum isn't well maintained by it's moderators.

one of the biggest misconceptions that is widespread in those HT FAQ's is that pressure ratio is a direct relation to boost. But's it not.

(compressor outlet pressure) / (atm pressure) = pressure ratio

The compressor outlet pressure is going to be atmospheric pressure + boost + pressure drop.

ie:
The correct way...
(assuming 2psi pressure drop and 8psi boost)
(14.7 + 8 + 2) / (14.7) = 1.68
The incorrect way...
(14.7 + 8) / (14.7) = 1.54

It makes a big difference in reading a compressor map.
