I have seen alot of threads on this subject but i just wnat to make sure i can do this or something else to get the sheild to stop ratteling can on either take the heat shield off my catilytic converter or not. And if not is there any other way i can fix it it is really getting anoying to hear it starts rattiling at 3000 rpms . thanks in advance.

best advice would be to take them off. But if you want to leave them on you can take two long radiator hose clamps(steel ones) and just put one on each end of the cat and tighten them down. Thats what I did on my ITR to fix the problem

Bring it to a muffler shop or you can jack up the cars. Take a flathead and just keep bending the shield away from the cat. Works like a d-o-g-g

take it off...Midas did it for me for $5...way easier than trying to do it yourself

It might not be the heatshield...a lot of rattles like this are caused by something else like a header or cat.
