I guess the purpose of this post is to see if this is a common thing.

I know it's nothing more than an annoying noise at low rpm. But should I fix it, or does everyone just live with it?

I don't wanna have the heatshield removed cuz my car is a 2001 and I guess i'm just being anal.

But can the heatshield be bent in a way that there's no
contact/no rattling?

(BTW - it's a 2-pc stainless steel DC 4-2-1 header if that helps any).

Speechless, take the damn thing off! I'll keep knawing at you until you do anyways! It's better you just take it off and put it somewhere that you can always put it back on if you sell the car and want the header.

Try to removing it and bang on the portion that is rattling with a hammer in the direction away from the header. Then reinstall.

speech - i recently installed my dc 4-2-1 and i got the same low rpm rattling from teh heat sheild... it was annoying so i took it to my buddies shop, we jacked it up and bent the shield out of the way, so that it doesn't rattle anymore, problem solved, it's a no-brainer, bend it out of the way and you'll be thanking yourself everytime you're at low rpm!!
