I assume you believe that the "B18C5" is port & polish over the B16A ..
But how can the B18C5 "ported" have the same "42.7cc" ?

Port envolve reworking the combustion chamber by removing edge and stuff ..

Removing stuff mean more ccs ...

So any final answer ?

My though on this is ...

B18C5 have a different intake manifold cuz of their lower rod ratio (1.58 over 1.75) so the head must be different .. but with the same 42.7 cc ..

But im defenatly not sure hehe ..

The conclusion to this is,

If im 1.75 rod ratio .. should I go with B16A head and,
if im 1.58 rod ratio, I should go with the B18C5 head ?

Or can I use whatever head cuz it make no difference ?

Or just take one or the other and port it ?

Thnx

I don't know the answer to that one.

I can tell you however that the chamber volume does not always change w/ a port job, only if there's extensive bowl work. You can even polish the chamber and not change the chamber volume a tenth of a cc.

The volume of the port will ALWAYS change when you port the head, i mean thats the whole point. but you could have the same size port but not the same port shape so if the port volume is the same on a 16a and a 18c5, they could still have a smoother, faster port on either head.

Yeah, I think the port size doesnt affect chamber volume as long as there is no valve angle change or valve size increase.

All vtec motor have 33mm intake and 28mm exhaust valves.

So .. if the B18C5 head is different, can you answer my rod ratio choice question ?

Thnx
