I was wondering if anyone has ever hard wired a radar detector into their integra. I was wondering how it could be done all though I dont imagine it would be too hard. I know CLs can be wired into the Power mirror switch.

Thanks

It can be done.

My younger brother did it on his civic.
It looks really nice w/ out the wires hanging everywhere.

I wired mine to a switched power behind the radio. then ran the wire over, up the pillar and over to the middle of the windsheild. Very clean, no wires, and the radar detector is at the top of the window where its harder for a cop to see.

just don't put it so high, it's harder for a good detection... cops aim at the front license plate, and the cone of the radar beam on the newer Ka and some K bands doesn't expand much at all. point being, it may not have spread enough to hit the top of your windshield. lasers spread even less, so don't expect that to get detected either. that's why radar detector instructions generally say to place the unit at low as possible, and just a couple inches over the wipers.

So where do they aim with no front license plate? You know here in NC we dont have a front one. They really cant 'aim' the guns at a certain part of the car. They can only get it into the general direction.

For states that make them illegal, you can always unplug the cord from the radar detector itself.

My car is already so low that when they shoot the bottom for other people and they get the top of my car
!!! Well, I hard wired it tthe same way as JUICEDGSR95, only I took mine apart... so the laser detector is on the back of the rear view mirror and the radar part went in the front grill, it works AWESOME!!!! and cops will NEVER SEE IT, and since it has VG-2 stealth mode, they won't ever detect it either!!! Well, hope this helps.

they aim where the front licence plate would be. and yes, they can aim for certain parts of the car, considering when most people are clocked, it's at around 500 feet, since that's where they can be for certain which car they shot. and 500 feet from a stationary point, you can aim pretty well. they aim there b/c that gives the most radar and laser echo. they wouldn't aim at glass, b/c it just passes through. the front plate (or where it would be) gives them essentially all the frontal area of the bumper, the radiator (in cases of radar) and the whole reflective matrix of the headlight assembly (in the case of laser)

go to auto parts store, buy a "universal cig lighter socket" (about $3), plug in the cig lighter end to it (this keeps the cig lighter's power cable intact in case you want to undo this, PLUS this allows you not to worry about properly fusing this, since it is typically built into the plug as is)

wire the center pin to the fusebox slot that shows +12v with the car in "Acc" and "on", ground the outside pin.. done

In that case they aim it at the next most reflective thing....your headlights. The more relflective "stuff" you have on your front grill the better it is for an officer w/ a lidar to get a reading on you.

For radar, they don't need reflective material. Basically anything other than glass will send the radar back to the gun for a reading.

lidar is another word for a laser speed measurement device. Sorry, should have specified.

lidar = same thing as what everyone commonly calls laser.

Lidar guns are usually aimed at the front plate. Radar can't really be aimed. Most maufacturers say to place detector as high as possible for radar so detector can "see" over vehicles in front. The disadvantage to high mounting would be the tint that would obstruct lidar, but since for the most part if lidar is detected it's too late, I would mount detector as high as possible. Lidar can only be used when stationary and is expensive, so not used as much.

The lidar panic isn't huge yet. I count the number of times I've detected in IL and Chicago on one hand. Of course, it goes off...you're pretty much busted unless you picked up them clocking someone ahead of you.

K and Ka are the most popular devices out right now.

Just Get a radar Jammer from Beltronics.... Cops Will never know your speed it will just give em' an error message.... altough i believe they are illegal...
Yeah, VG2 sends an error message back to the cops radar and then shuts its self off incase the cop has a "radar detector detector. So in reality VG2 is a radar detector detector detector
(whether this actually works i have no clue) But you will definently get pulled over for that.
