oem units have a security code that go along with them. if the power is disconnected, the code needs to be entered to use it again. i dont know if the older units were the same way but i know all of the newer ones are this way.

I found it on a little paper in the owner's manual of a car I bought (too bad it didnt come with a radio). You can usually go to the dealership with your vin and they'll give it to you.

PM me with a pic of it. I bought a ****ty walmart HU and it sucks so bad I have to return it (it wasnt even Dual, it's a JVC!). I might consider a stock one.
