I have a simple question. I have a 94 ls block and I'm being offered a 98 gsr head with the ecu. Now the question is will I be able to use that ecu for my car (ls/vtec) because I know right now I have a OBD1 wiring and the gsr ecu is OBD2. Will I need to get the 98 gsr wiring harness? or what do I need

simple answer: OBD1 -> OBD2? you need OBD2 emissions (eg. EVAP, second O2 sensor). The 98 GSR ECU will be looking for those sensor signals and you won't be providing them with your OBD1 sensors.

you'd be better off looking for an OBD1 P28 VTEC ECU (Civic Ex/Si 1.6L SOHC VTEC D16Z ) and using a VAFC/FPR to get the fuel up to fuel enough a 1.8L or getting a hondata S100 , only if you have a local hondata retailer who also fuel tunes on a dyno with a wideband.

sell the 98 GSR to recoup your costs.
