I have a 2001 5 speed Integra LS as my daily driver and I have a totaled 1996 5 speed Integra GSR. I want to swap the GSR engine into my LS but I don't want to spend days rebuilding a wiring harness so my question is what're the differences in the wiring harnesses. I wouldn't think much but given the year gap and the model difference I'm really not sure.

Well for one the LS won't have the VTEC system wires in the harness, and the 2001 is OBD2B, while the 1996 is OBD2A. I'm not 100% certain of what all of the differences are with that, but i'm pretty sure the plug connections at the ECU are different from A to B.

You have quite a bit of options due to you having both cars

You can run the GSR harness on the car, but you'll still have to figure out the VTEC, knock, and IAB part. The LS doesn't have that on the shock tower connectors. I am not sure how easy that is to swap over. And since you have both cars on you, you might as well just swap it the OEM way.

The other option would be to use the GSR harness and use a VTEC subharness like one from Rywire that has the knock, and IAB connectors and connect it directly to the ECU harness.

Is your GSR running the stock intake manifold or a skunk2 type? Some wire lengths end up changing slightly do to the differences in sensor locations, but you can use the gsr stock harness. But if you are running a stock GSR motor, I would run the gsr harness. And if you cant figure out how to swap the shock tower vtec, knock and iab plugs over, just run the subharness instead.

My car is a 00 LS with a GSR and I am running an LS harness with a separate subharness for just VTEC. Since I am using the skunk2 manifold and hondata, I am not using the knock sensor or IAB functions.

An obd2a engine bay harness works on an obd2b car, it also has that blue tach wire to the one of the shock tower connectors. Connecting a gsr engine harness to an LS leaves ton of unconnected stuff. But can get you mostly running...

I am currently using an obd2a LS engine bay harness on my 2000 with GSR swap with no issues (plus vtec subharness). I stupidly bought a GSR harness that sat for years in my garage and it was basically disintegrating by the time I did my swap and went back to an LS harness to solve my weird issues I was encountering. Should have kept my original harness even if I would have had to add the blue tach wire :rolleyes:

You are right about the ECU side being different though. That is where I am not certain how the VTEC, Knock, and IAB shock tower plugs are wired in...Im guessing directly to the ECU?
