I have a B&M short shifter on my car with the stock knob. I like the way it feels, and don't want to get another shift knob. Is there any way you can think of "deep threading" the stock knob so it sits down on the shifter farther, allowing for shorter throws?

I was thinking of possibly just drilling the knob's "thread" hole about 1/2" past the threads. That way, the majority of the threads will still be on the threaded section of the knob. Knowwhatimean? DO you think that would work, or not?

i have a typer shift knob. i can feel threads even when the knob is screwed all the way. is it safe to cut like an inch or so of the threads off, and the stock boot barely reaches the knob
