I was wondering how hard is it to put clear coat on the carbon hood. what do u have to do to prep the hood before putting clear coat

i believe some cF hoods already have a clearcoat to them, otherwise it's a layer of resin or another.

I believe the first thing to do is contact the company who made it, and ask them if it's possible.

my method to approaching this would be, claybar, polish, then clearcoat.

I would say wetsand, clearcoat, wetsand, rubbing compound, polish.

i actually had to re-clear my cf hood... it took a couple days of working on it start off with like a 400-600 grit and work all the way to 1500 or higher, get all oxidation and blemishes out and most of the existing clear coat off... i took my hood to an autobody shop, which clear coated my hood for me... looks amazing now

my clearcoat is gone that why i need to reapply clear coat

Wet sanding would be the best method. Good luck.

Does your friend know what he's doing? I wouldn't paint on top of wax
