i believe some cF hoods already have a clearcoat to them, otherwise it's a layer of resin or another.

I believe the first thing to do is contact the company who made it, and ask them if it's possible.

my method to approaching this would be, claybar, polish, then clearcoat.

wetsand, wetsand, wetsand, wetsand...

i actually had to re-clear my cf hood... it took a couple days of working on it start off with like a 400-600 grit and work all the way to 1500 or higher, get all oxidation and blemishes out and most of the existing clear coat off... i took my hood to an autobody shop, which clear coated my hood for me... looks amazing now
