no you have to turn the cam gear one whole tooth to either way you want to turn it (left or right). Each tooth that you move the cam gear will equal a lot of cranking degrees (unknown amount) but with adjustable cam gears you can make fine adjustments and know the amount (in degrees) that you turned the camshaft.
one tooth is a pretty big turn and that could mean piston to valve contact which equals bad.
edit: when tuning you want to go by little increments not big ones
