hi guys,

well this issue is really annoying and i hope i can settle it as fast as possible but properly! The problem is that i have a Skunk 2 full exhaust system on my car, and the clamp that holds the muffler to the back body of the car broke off and totally isn't on the muffler any more. Now the car makes a ghetto rattle noise and i hate it and want it fixed. I called Skunk 2 to try and buy a new muffler and they don't sell it with the clamp, they said i have to buy a brand new exhaust system. Is there anywhere else that would sell that muffler with the clamp or what are my options? I dont know how to weld and i dont know where to get a clamp to have welded on there so thats why i'd rather have like the same muffler put back into the car because mine did get a little bit of over spray on it when the car was painted! Take it to an exhaust shop and explain what you want repaired. They can probably weld it back together for you.

why don't you go to a muffler shop and get them to fix it?

the picture all the way to the left, that piece thats on top of the muffler cannister, it broke off, and it fell loose so i dont have it any more...

but i dont have the clamp thing for them to be able to weld it back for me thats the problem, when it broke it fell off of the car!

you mean the exhaust hanger? some places sell that hanger. its just a piece of stainless rod bent up and then welded to the muffler

those are called hangers, i don't see it being hard for a shop to fix.

but doesn't it have to be the exact kind that broke off? Since the guy at the muffler shop told me that i'll have an exhaust leak if i dont do it properly

oh and he wants like 200$ to do it so thats y i said i can buy another one but skunk 2 says they dont offer that part alone

$200 to fix a broken exhaust hanger? Go to a different shop. Exhaust hangers are fairly universal.

You might get lucky and find a used Skunk2 muffler somewhere, but otherwise I'd just say go to a different exhaust shop and have them fix it. $200 is obscene for a 10 minute job.

Just go to a muffler shop and ask them to weld a new hanger for you. It doesnt cost that much

I do live right by D.C. so prices on things are always expensive

thats crazy 2hr my ass. 2hr job for stevie wonder maybe. dude for real its 30 minutes MAX. find a diff shop. the only option you have is to get a new axle back cause its all attached to the axle back. but like this has never happened before? ya know man. just find another shop

2 hour job? Doubtful. Removing the muffler will take him 5 minutes, welding another 10 or so, and reinstalling the muffler 5 minutes. Try a new shop, like I said.
