Hey, I have sort of a random question for you all:
Recently, I've heard a lot of people talking about how they've blown up their own tegs ("oops, I missed a shift). Here's my question: if the car is under warrenty, and you have in fact his 9-11K (over redline) is there any record of that some where in the engine's computer? I ask this because I know a lot of the new BMW M3s (the high reving inline 6cyls) are blowing up... and dealers are not replacing the $20K engines because the dealers are checking the car's "black box" and finding out that the owners 1. did not properly break the motors in and 2. the owners have brought the cars well over redline.
What would happen if I missed a shift, while under factory warrenty (lets say my stock GSR hit 9000RPM), would the dealer be able to tell?
Let me know what you think? And if you're not sure, no need to guess... I'm sure someone will know.
Thanks.
