What is the best way. I can't even see the pointers on the crank, so what do you guys suggest? I followed the Helm method, but it doesn't say how to get to the crank (i.e. what parts have to be removed first, etc.) thanks.
what is to be removed besides the valve cover?
and instead of getting down n dirty with the crank juss pop the ignition, just have a friend turn the key in short burst to the position u desire!!!!!!!!!
I used the power steering pulleye bolt, with all the spark plugs out and it turned over easy, that way you dont have to jack up your car and stuff, it was easy!
I wouldn't use the ignition to try and turn the motor with the valve cover off. Remove your spark plugs and the motor turns easy with the crank. If you have a long enough extension for your socket wrench you will be able to turn the crank without needing to remove the wheel. I haven't tried the powersteering bolt method, maybe I will try that next time.
UMM You do have a manual right it should explain everything if you dont have a manual GET oNE service manuals will help you out alot if you do your own work
